This site tells you that discharging a sump pump into the sanitary sewer is unlawful in many places and carries a monthly penalty. Somebody reading that is entitled to know what happens if they call us and say they are doing it.

Nothing happens.

The gist

No form exists anywhere on these pages, so nothing can be submitted to them. A telephone call carries a ZIP code, a description of what the pump is doing, and the number it came from. Nothing about the property, the basement or any earlier call is kept.

Pit and Pump is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands, and a discharge connection is usually a permitted alteration — ask to see the permit. We carry out no work, we sell no equipment, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

We do not report anybody to anybody

We are a referral service. We are not a municipality, not a sewer district, not a code enforcement office and not connected to one. We have no mechanism to report a property to any authority and we would not use one.

If you tell a contractor on the call that your discharge currently goes somewhere it should not, that is what has to happen for the work to be quoted correctly. It is a conversation about a repair, not a disclosure to the city, and it does not reach one through us.

What a call records

A ZIP code and what the pump is doing, so the call can reach a contractor who covers your area. Your number arrives because you dialed, as it does on any call, with the time and the duration.

Your name is not asked for. There is no form on this site, so the call is the only way it can receive anything about you.

Who gets it

The contractor who answers, because they cannot quote a pit they have not heard described. That is the whole list.

We do not sell details and we do not pass them to anybody who was not on your call.

Reading without calling

Static pages. No advertising cookies, no third-party tracking scripts. Looking up what your discharge rule might be is not recorded here, which is the other reason we tell you to ask your own municipality directly.

Removing the record

Write to hello@nxtaflow.com with the number you called from and ask. We will remove it; the number is the only thing it is filed under.

Done the bucket test?If the pump ran and cleared the pit, you may not need us at all. If it did not, or if you want the discharge looked at, we will route you to somebody who covers your area — the ZIP code is all we need to find them. Free to you. The line is not restricted to sump work; any plumbing job can go through it.
