We introduce people and do no work, and where a pump may discharge is your municipality’s call rather than ours.

The gist

Pit and Pump introduces people and does no work. It is not party to any agreement reached with a contractor. Where a sump pump may lawfully discharge is set by your own municipality, and the answer for any particular address is not stated here.

Pit and Pump is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands, and a discharge connection is usually a permitted alteration — ask to see the permit. We carry out no work, we sell no equipment, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

Introductions, and nothing else

Pit and Pump is an introduction service. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. We are not a party to any agreement you reach with a contractor, we do not supervise their work, and we do not guarantee it.

The maintenance material here

Everything here is general information about how sump pump systems work and what published sources say about them. It is not an inspection of your system and it is not professional advice about your property.

Local rules on discharge vary and change. Where a page tells you to ask your municipality, that is because we cannot answer it for you and neither can anyone else who has not looked it up.

Putting something right

If something here is wrong, tell us at hello@nxtaflow.com and we will correct it. We would rather be corrected than consistent.

Done the bucket test?If the pump ran and cleared the pit, you may not need us at all. If it did not, or if you want the discharge looked at, we will route you to somebody who covers your area — the ZIP code is all we need to find them. Free to you. The line is not restricted to sump work; any plumbing job can go through it.
